Marriott May Be Participating in Drip Pricing

A lawsuit has been filed alleging that Marriott International, Inc., engages in unlawful trade practices through its advertising. The allegations claim that Marriott allegedly hides portions of its hotel rooms’ daily rates from consumers and designates them as a “resort fee,” an “amenity fee,” and a “destination fee,” among other terms. This deceptive practice , in which the FTC refers to as “ drip pricing,” causes consumers to be misled to believe that Marriot’s hotel rooms are cheaper than they actually are and that the additional  fees are government – imposed , rather than a charge imposed by Marriott themselves.
