Capital One Data Breach May Impact Millions

Capital One Data Breach May Impact Millions

We are investigating allegations that between March 12, 2019 and July 17, 2019, Capital One may have encountered a massive data breach. An outside third party allegedly intentionally accessed a computer without authorization and may have obtained confidential financial and other protected information.

The outside party accessed and potentially exposed at least names, addresses, phone numbers, date of birth, credit scores, credit limits, account balances, payment history, social security numbers, and bank account numbers of people who have applied for Capital One credit card products and to Capital One credit card holders.

The FBI launched an investigation stating that “an individual accessed the PII by exploiting one of Capital One’s misconfigured firewalls, which permitted access to a data cloud and infiltrated approximately 100 million consumers information.”

The investigation found that the outside party allegedly posted the financial information of 100 million consumers on their personal GitHub page on April 21, 2019.
