Manufactures May Be Deceiving Consumers of Vanilla

We are investigating allegations that A&W, Breyers, Dove, and Dannon may be deceiving consumers by claiming their products contain vanilla.  Vanilla is a popular flavoring derived from the vanilla beans of a vanilla plant.  However, consumers allege that manufacturers are using vanillin made from tree bark and other non-vanilla ingredients to simulate vanilla, essentially deceiving customers of actual ingredients.

The alleged defected products include:

A&W Root Beer flavors:

  • Root Beer
  • Diet Root Beer
  • Cream Soda
  • Diet Cream Soda
  • A&W 10

Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream flavors:

  • Natural Vanilla
  • French Vanilla
  • Homemade Vanilla

Dove Vanilla Ice Cream Bar flavors:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream with Milk Chocolate
  • Vanilla Ice Cream with Dark Chocolate
  • Vanilla Ice Cream with Milk Chocolate and Almond
  • Vanilla Chocolate Chip Ice Cream with Milk Chocolate
  • Vanilla Chocolate Chip Ice Cream with Dark Chocolate

Dannon Vanilla Yogurt favors:

  • Dannon Lowfat Vanilla
  • Dannon Whole Milk Vanilla
  • Oikos Triple Zero Vanilla Blended Greek Yogurt
