Hyundai and Kia May Have Knowingly Sold Defective Vehicles

Hyundai Motor America and KIA Motors America, Inc. allegedly failed to correct dangerous defects or disclose them to their customers. Consumers have reported that the catalytic converter can overheat and become damaged, resulting in abnormal combustion in the engine, which then causes fires.

Hyundai and Kia allegedly began recalling certain vehicles with the engine defect. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Hyundai is recalling 120,000 SUVs and Kia is recalling 505,652 vehicles.

The alleged defective vehicles include:

  • 2011-2013 Hyundai Tucson
  • 2012-2016 Kia Soul
  • 2011-2012 Kia Sportage
