Stacy Pita Chips are only filled 50% with actual chips.
We are investigating allegations that Stacy’s Pita Chips contain only 50% of chips. A recent study found that the remaining 50% of the bags are filled with nitrogen. The difference between the actual capacity of a container and the volume of product contained therein is called “slack fill.” Stacy’s slack fill practice may violate an FDA rule prohibiting nonfunctional slack fill. Moreover, the slack fill may decrease the overall value of the product. According to the study, the chips cost $2.99 per bag; however, the actual value of the chips may only be $1.50, such that consumers are paying more than the chips are worth.
