Consumers allege that Amazon’s Audible audiobooks misleads customers regarding how their membership works. Customers are led to believe that by paying a monthly fee they would receive a certain number of prepaid “credits” that could be redeemed for an equivalent number of audiobooks, that these credits would never expire, and that they could cancel their membership at any time with “no strings attached.” However, the allegations claim that once members accrue a certain number of prepaid credits, their credits begin to expire to “make room” for new credits. Effectively, members do not receive any additional credits, although they are still charged the monthly fee. Customers also allege that the credits expire if unredeemed at the time of cancellation of their membership.
