Consumers have reported that the steering wheel came loose or detached while their vehicles were in motion. The alleged defect creates a great risk for not only the driver but other motorists on the road.
Several consumers have reported that the steering wheel in their Ford Fusion either came loose or completely detached from the steering and dashboard components while their vehicles were moving. This alleged defect poses a clear safety hazard to drivers and other motorists, as drivers are unable to steer and control their vehicles without a properly functioning steering wheel. In response, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into all 2014, 2015 and 2016 Ford Fusions, totaling approximately 841,000, in an attempt to identify the cause, scope, and frequency of the alleged defect. Ford Fusion has not issued a recall for the vehicles but is allegedly cooperating with the NHTSA’s investigation.
