Apparently Nissan’s Sentra with an Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) may contain defects that can cause premature transmission failure. The CVT’s cooling system is said to be designed in such a way that makes the transmission unreasonably sensitive to heat and prone to overheating. If the transmission becomes overheated, it could activate the “Fail – Safe Mode,” which may reduce the engine’s performance level and cause drivers to experience vibrations, trembles, or catastrophic transmission failure. A complaint has been filed against Nissan alleging that the American company failed to disclose the defect in the cooling system. The defect is said to be prone to malfunctions and premature wear that may cause drivers to loss power or stalling unexpectedly while driving.
