A class action lawsuit filed against Wells Fargo Merchant Services (“Wells Fargo”) alleges that Wells Fargo overcharges small businesses that use it to process credit card transactions. The lawsuit alleges that after Wells Fargo induces merchants to enroll in its credit card processing service, it then increases fees, charges undisclosed and unauthorized fees, and even adds new categories of fees. The case alleges that on its statements, Wells Fargo describes the fees in a deceptive manner, making it difficult for merchants to realize that it is Wells Fargo charging the improper fees rather than the credit card networks.
