Babyganics Mineral Based Sunscreen May Provide Less Protection Than Advertised

A compliant has been filed against S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. & VMG Partners, LLC, for their Babyganics mineral based sunscreen lotion SPF 50 + and their mineral based sunscreen spray SPF 50+. The complaint alleges that the sunscreen falsely advertised an SPF number which is not accurate. Based on a methodology mandated test by the Food & Drug Administration, the mineral based sunscreen may only provide at most an SPF of 30. Babyganics products are marketed toward parents of babies who seek to purchase products focused on “safety,” “accessibility,” “effectiveness,” and “sustainability.”
